Last week we..
- Continued learning about the addition algorithm. We've practiced and practiced!
- Wrote a persuasive letter to Santa Claus. We are in the process of fancying those up! I'll be posting them here and on Facebook soon.
- Began studying two new featured authors, Jan Brett and local favorite Patricia Polacco.
- Read through 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. We will be reading through this famous poem as well as some well-known carols so that we improve our reading fluency and vocabulary. What's a clatter? A kerchief? What do 'tis and 'twas mean? Lots of good learning going on here, while we have fun!
- Strung popcorn, being careful to string five pieces of popcorn for every cranberry. How many pieces of popcorn will we need in order to use 11 cranberries?
This week we will...
- Make our own cutouts of Ezra Jack Keats's character Peter from A Snowy Day and Whistle for Willie.
- Begin work on adding and subtracting ones, tens, and hundreds. Our equations look like these.
