Every few years I get knocked down by a bug so nasty that I end up missing school. Four years ago it was pneumonia. This year a crazy viral respiratory infection that knocked me out cold. I was surprised that it happened so early in the year, but I'm glad that's out of the way for a while! *fingers crossed*
Even though I missed a few days of school this week I kept my finger on the pulse of our classroom. It was an exciting week!

Even though I missed a few days of school this week I kept my finger on the pulse of our classroom. It was an exciting week!
Last week we...
- learned about the many forms of transportation in and around our community.
- learned a LOT about fire safety when the Marengo fire fighters visited. I've posted pictures on our class FB page.
- began publishing our scary stories! They should be finished soon.
- created our own Halloween word problems using our iPads, our new class printer, and foam stickers.
Next week we will...
- begin a new math unit on geometry.
- learn many two dimensional shapes while we create shape monsters.
- create our own stores. This will be one of the final projects in our economy unit. In developing a store students will demonstrate an understanding of many of our social studies concepts.
- learn more about sentence structure, subjects, and predicates.
- study Ezra Jack Keats, author of The Snowy Day.
