The easiest way for you to stay on top of what is happening in our classroom is by signing up for Remind. I use Remind to send texts out to all of my parents. It’s absolutely free. To sign up text @0a368 to 81010. That’s it. If you need any help signing up please don’t hesitate to ask. It’s also possible to sign up for Remind emails. Just send a blank email to [email protected].
Suggested Supplies
Friday Folders
Every Friday, I will be sending home a folder with completed work for the week, important notices, the monthly Notepad and other important items. Please be sure to check your child’s folder on the weekend and return it to school on Monday.
Money
From time to time your child will bring money to school for a field trip, P.T.O snack, Scholastic Book Club orders, and lunch/breakfast accounts. Please send money to school in a marked Zip-Loc bag or envelope. Include your child’s name, the amount enclosed, and what the money is intended for.
Transportation
Please notify the school in writing if there are changes in the way your child will be going home from school. This will eliminate classroom disruptions at the end of the day and put your student’s mind at ease. Last minute transportation changes can be handled with a phone call to the office. Please do not email transportation changes to me because I am often unable to check my email in the middle of a busy school day. If for any reason your child must be picked up in the middle of the school day please keep in mind that he or she MUST be signed out in the office before being taken from the classroom. Your child’s safety is of the utmost concern to us.
Volunteers
I love seeing parents and grandparents in our school. Volunteers are always needed and welcome. Please contact me if you are interested in helping out on a regular basis.
Birthdays
What a big day for your student! Please feel free to send a treat for your son/daughter’s birthday. By letting me know when you will be sending in the treat I will be sure to set aside enough time to enjoy it. If your student has a summer birthday they may celebrate it at the beginning or end of the school year, whichever is closer. We LOVE birthday treats!
Toys
Please do not allow your son or daughter to bring toys to school. They are a distraction in the classroom. Toys, electronic or otherwise, often end up broken or missing when brought to school. Students with toys at their desk will be asked to return them to their backpack. Toys that I confiscate will be returned to parents at conferences or at the end of the year. Believe me, we have plenty of fun things to play with at school!
Clothing
In order that your son or daughter can learn most effectively, I would ask that they wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate. We are frequently involved in activities that take us outside or require jumping, running, climbing, etc. We have outdoor recess on most days, unless extreme cold or rain prevents it. Please send your son or daughter to school dressed for the weather.
Pets
Our class always enjoys watching wild birds at our feeder. I have donated 50 pounds of sunflower seed to our room, but I am looking for a few more bags of seed to get us through the year. Can you help? Sunflower heads and suet bricks are welcome too!
Social Media
I share many things about our class on our class Facebook page but I never share student last names. If you would prefer that photos of your student or copies of their work NOT be shared online please let me know as soon as possible. Most parents and grandparents really enjoy seeing the many interesting things we do.
I am excited to be part of your child’s life. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
